About Gayle
Gayle Brady is an accomplished dog breeder and trainer with a deep passion for Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Her journey began with her first-ever Chesapeake (who was also her first-ever dog), who achieved remarkable titles including Canadian and American tracking dog, followed by tracking dog excellent in Canada, Canadian companion dog, and companion dog excellent, earning multiple high-in-class awards. Her dog also attained working certificates, a working dog certificate, and a canine good citizen certificate, with notable placements in obedience classes at U.S. national specialty shows. Gayle has traveled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. to attend various dog shows and tracking trials, showcasing her dogs’ excellence in the ring and in working environments.
In addition to her achievements in the show ring, Gayle is deeply committed to Chesapeake rescue efforts. She has played an active role in fostering, placing, and transporting at-risk Chesapeakes who needed rehoming or care, often stepping in to provide a safe haven for dogs in difficult circumstances. Her work in rescue is driven by her love for the breed and her desire to see every Chesapeake thrive in a loving home. Gayle believes that every dog deserves a chance, and she works tirelessly to match each dog with the right family, ensuring a happy and successful rehoming.
While Gayle breeds dogs with excellent conformation, she firmly believes that temperament is equally important. She values a strong work ethic and drive, combined with a positive and loving attitude. All of her Chesapeakes have been beloved members of her family, known for their friendly interactions with children and other dogs of all sizes. Gayle’s commitment to great temperament is also reflected in her previous career as a high school teacher, where she trained her dog to work in schools. Her dog served as a reassuring presence for students, providing comfort and support, and demonstrating the outstanding temperament that Gayle prioritizes in her breeding program.
With three champions personally finished, including two from her first-ever litter, Gayle's expertise and passion shine through in every aspect of her work. Outside of her work with dogs, Gayle is a clinical counsellor who enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing, walks at the beach, gardening (especially her beloved roses), knitting, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Gayle's multifaceted background and love for Chesapeakes make her a dedicated and knowledgeable breeder who is deeply committed to the well-being and success of her dogs, both in the ring and at home.
